How Things Fly

Program is free with paid or member admission and takes place in the Dorothy Finley Space Gallery Classroom.

Model Airplane Make N Take

For children 5 years and older and their adult companions, this program is designed to introduce students to the hobby of model building and the math and historical research used to build accurate scale models. Each student builds a snap tight airplane they can take home and has a chance to view models made by expert model builders from Sonoran Desert Model Builders.

Our rocket experts will lead you through the laws of energy and motion and show you how they are used in the flight of rockets, the world around us, and much more.

Enjoy the museum in the cool evening. From 5:00pm until sundown there will be trams giving tours of the outdoor aircraft. All hangars will be open until 9:00pm with hands on activities for kids in each hangar. The Flight Grill will be open for dinner.
During the June 22nd Night Wings we will have a display by the Tucson Soaring Club
Admission after 4:00pm will be $10 for adults and children 12 and under are free. Members are always free. Last admission will be at 8:00pm

Plastic Model Building Workshop
August 3
10AM - 3PM
Join us at the Pima Air & Space Museum to build and paint a Pegusu Hobbies airplane from their Military Museum Collection with the expert help of the Sonoran Desert Model Builders .
From 10:00am-3:00pm we will be building and painting the model as well as exploring the museum and learning about the history of our aircraft.
Registration starts at 9:00am and lunch is included in the price.
Members $11.00
Non-Members $15.00

Mr. Hoffman will talk about submarines... from diesel boats used in WWII to modern nuclear attack and missile subs. Mr. Hoffman served on four submarines during his naval career. Som of the topics to be covered include: Diesel, Battery and Nuclear Propulsion; Torpedoes, Cruise Missiles and Ballistic Missiles, Diving, Surfacing and Depth Control; Artic Operations.
