New Volunteer Orientation

February 11
9:30AM - 10:30AM

We hold free orientation sessions at the Pima Air & Space museum every second Saturday of the month.  Orientation gives you an overview of the Foundation's volunteer program and how you can participate.

Simply be in the Pima Air & Space Museum admissions area at 9:30am, a staff memeber will meet you there and brief you on the orientation.  Please park in the visitor parking lot.

After the orientation briefing, you are encouraged to begin the self-guided portion of your orientation. 

Take a look at the volunteer opportunities listed on our Volunteer page.  If you think you might enjoy serving on one of our teams, then join us at the next orientation.

Imagine Rockets

February 11
1PM - 2:30PM

For children 8 years of age and older bring an adult to experience the power of rockets. This is a fun way to explore and learn the way rockets take flight. With hands on activities you can build your own experiments that you can take home. Our rocket experts will lead you through the laws of energy and motion and show you how they are used in the flight of rockets, the world around us, and much more.

Program free with paid or member admission.

SR-71 Symposium

February 17 - 18
10AM - 4:30PM

Secrets Revealed!

Meet the people who built and flew the fastest and highest flying aircraft on Earth.

On Feb 17th and 18th there will be three panel discussions with pilots and crew from the Top Secret SR-71 program.  Panels will be Friday, Feb 17th at 10:00 am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm, and Saturday, Feb 18th at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm.

This program is for children ages 4 – 7 years and their adult companions, this program is designed to introduce children to the world of Aviation and Aerospace through gallery activities and tours, story books, demonstrations, and hands-on craft projects that can be taken home.

Slide-Rule Packin' Mamas: The Curtis-Wright Aeronautical Engineering Cadettes of WWII

Jean-Vi Lenthe, author of Flying Into Yesterday a book about the female aeronautical engineers that worked at Curtiss-Wright during WWII, will be talking about her experience researching the book and the amazing Curtiss-Wright Cadettes she met. 

After the persentation there will be an opportunity to buy the book and get it signed by the author.

Model Airplane Make N Take

March 3
1PM - 2:30PM

For children 5 years and older and their adult companions, this program is designed to introduce students to the hobby of model building and the math and historical research used to build accurate scale models.  Each student builds a snap tight airplane they can take home and has a chance to view models made by expert model builders from Sonoran Desert Model Builders.

Yuri's Night

April 13
5PM - 9PM

Yuri's Night is an Intermational Celebration of Manned Space Exploration.  This years theme is Make an Impact.

At the Pima Air & Space Museum we bring community Space Science educators to the museum for an evening of hands on learning and inspiration for children of all ages.

Admission after 5:00pm is $10.00 for adults and children 12 and under free.  Last admission at 8:00pm.
